                     Career Link's Services

 
Career Link is a non-profit organization that has administered Federal job training programs in Central Illinois since 1975. Operating under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Career Link provides career services for individuals and training assistance at no cost.
 
Career Services for Individuals
 
Career Link’s eight local Resource Centers are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Trained Resource Room Technicians guide customers in accessing services and resources regarding high-growth careers, job opportunities and training opportunities. Career Link provides resume design assistance, as well as information regarding interview techniques and creating cover letters. Computers are available for internet job searches and standard computer applications. No eligibility requirements or appointments necessary.

Training Assistance for Dislocated Workers
 
 
Career Link provides training assistance to individuals that have been laid off and qualify for unemployment insurance benefits. Training assistance can pay for up to two years of training at a number of local community colleges, private schools and universities. Career Link cannot fund individual courses that do not lead to a credential.
 
No training assistance or other benefits can be paid without prior approval.
Apply to Career Link before enrolling in training on your own.
 
The training assistance provides:
 
 
• Funding for tuition, fees and books;
 
• Assistance with the cost of transportation during training;
 
• Assistance with the cost of child care during training;
 
• Reimbursement for supplies, uniforms and other requirements; and
 
• Payment of required licensing fees.
 
Career Link provides financial assistance to train for careers in high-growth occupations, including, but not limited to: Electrical Maintenance, Electronics Technology, Information Systems, Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics, Nursing- RN & LPN, Radiography and Secure Software Development. Career Link can fund the last two years of a Bachelor’s Degree in a high-growth field.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) administers Unemployment Insurance programs and provides Employment Services to Illinois residents. Unemployment Insurance is a state-operated insurance program designed to partially replace lost wages when you are out of work. The program ensures that, if you meet the eligibility requirements of the law, you will have some income while you are looking for a job. IDES also makes it easy for qualified job seekers to find employment. The Office of Consumer Health Insurance (OCHI) is a consumer assistance office that helps with your health insurance problems and questions.
